We’ve had a few calls from customers recently about renewing their domain names after they’ve been allowed to lapse, so we thought it was time to reiterate a few of the whys and wherefores of the process – and show you a cheaper way to get your domain names renewed.
Your domain name is a hugely important piece of property, particularly for a business, and the last thing you want is to fail to renew your primary domain and find that your website has gone down as a result. Even secondary domain names have their place – if you have alternate spellings or business-relevant phrases pointing to your website (we’ve talked a bit about how important those are for search engine optimisation), do you really want to lose the extra traffic they help drive to your site or see your competitors to snap up those business-relevant phrases?
If you’re a Daily.co.uk customer and make sure you have up-to-date card details stored with in your Daily.co.uk control panel, you won’t have to worry – we’ll handle your renewal automatically unless you tell us otherwise. We generally find that people prefer this arrangement, particularly if they have large numbers of domain names, since as long as they have funds it means they don’t run the risk of their website suddenly going down if they happen to miss a reminder and fail to renew. If you don’t have card details stored, you can still renew your domain name manually from within your My Daily control panel – just make sure you don’t miss those reminders!
Cheaper Domain Name Renewals
There is, however, a way to renew your domains at even cheaper prices than our great value standard domain charges. If you buy Domain Credits, available in bundles of 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 .com or 10, 20, 50 and 100 .uk domains, you’ll find that it works out cheaper than our standard domain prices. Plus, they’re really flexible – credits won’t expire until you use them and you can use them for new domain registrations, domain renewals and domain transfers.
And finally… a warning about an alleged renewal ‘scam’
We’ve had reports that customers are receiving ‘Domain Notices’ from another company, urging them to renew domain names, search engine services and potentially other services. So, we’d like to issue a quick reminder that if any of your services are up for renewal, we’ll email you about it ourselves (and we don’t have offices in the US which invoice in dollars…), using the email address in your account. You don’t have to fax your details to anywhere – you can simply renew any product or service directly from your My Daily control panel, keeping your domains and services securely with us rather than transferring them to a company that you’ve never heard of!
If you are concerned about unwitting transfer of your domain names, you can lock .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .cc and .tv domains from within your control panel. If you’re in any doubt about a renewal reminder you’ve received, from us or from someone else, don’t hesitate to contact us.
