It’s a great way to make changes – from DNS updates to contact details – for multiple domain names at the same time.

We’ve made it easy to manage and group selected domains by type (i.e. .uk or .com) and apply changes to the selected group only. It’s fast and easy to use for all these functions:

Full DNS Management
Easily update A records, CNAMES and MX records for multiple domains at once.

Web Forwarding
We allow both framed and non-framed forwarding, and a single setting can be applied to multiple domain names quickly.

Manage Contact Details
Change the contact details on any number of domains at once – we can even change your contact details on all your domains, should you move house, with just one click.

Catch-all Email Forwarding
Set emails up so that all mail sent to any user at your domains is forwarded to another email address of your choice. Apply the same settings to multiple domains in one click!

Change Nameservers
Change nameserver settings for several domains in your portfolio in one go.

WHOIS Privacy
WHOIS privacy protects you from spam, fraud, stalkers or worse by keeping your public contact details private for all your domains. Enable or disable WHOIS Privacy on multiple domains easily. WHOIS privacy is supplied for free with all .uk domains but for £4.99 p.a you can also enable it for your .com, .net, .org, .info or .biz.

To make it even easier to snag the ideal domain for your latest project, we’ve now added an Expiring Domain Names service. We provides a full list of domain names that are due to expire during a 24-72 hour period and it’s updated daily.
Until 28th October, you can submit orders for the Sunrise phase as long as you have an existing domain name or trademark.

.XXX isn’t just for those involved in the adult industry, though – you can use the Sunrise phase to protect your non-adult brand against pornographic sites using the .XXX version of your domain. If you’d really rather the .XXX variant of your domain name didn’t exist you can apply under Sunrise B – if your application is successful, this will effectively take that domain name off the market for a one-off payment.

Of course, you can still place pre-orders for .xxx domain names for the Landrush and General Availability phases of launch – these begin on 8th November and 6th December respectively.

.XXX is coming! This brand new domain extension has been created especially for the use of the adult entertainment industry – and it’s expected to be a hot seller. It’s not hard to see why…

it’s a simple way for people to identify adult websites

it’s clear and easy for your customers to remember

it creates a whole new set of potential domain names

.xxx domain names also aim to create a sense of trust in an effectively self-regulated industry – registrants will need to sign up to a set of best practice guidelines drawn up by the International Foundation for Online Responsibility (IFFOR). These centre around safeguards for children, customer privacy, accurate labelling and clear disclosures, and addressing malicious codes and the use of spam within the industry.

.XXX domains won’t be open to general availability until December, but domains are being released in three phases starting on 7th September. If you want to get in quick you can pre-order yours now.

If you’re not in the adult entertainment industry and you’re keen to protect your brand from the registration of .xxx variants of your domain name, you can apply for your domain under Sunrise B, which takes the .xxx domaincompletely off the market for a one-off fee. You can place a Sunrise B pre-order now if you’re an existing trademark holder.

Ever searched for the perfect domain name only to find that someone else has beaten you to it?

We’ve all been there, and it’s frustrating – but you may still be able to get your mitts on it. We’ve launched a brand new Domain Backorder service that can monitor your chosen domain and secure it for you immediately it becomes available for registration by someone else if the current owner allows their registration to expire.

You’ll only pay if we secure the domain name, too, so you won’t end up out of pocket if the current owner decides to hang onto it. It’s just £29.99 plus the standard cost of the domain name – we do have to take the money 45 days in advance of the estimated expiry date in order to secure your domain for you, but you’ll be entitled to a refund if someone manages to beat us to it.

If a domain is available to backorder, you’ll see a new ‘Click to backorder this domain’ option in your search results when you perform a normal domain search – just follow the process and you’ll be good to go.

Place a backorder now.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) this week approved plans to increase considerably the number of generic Top Level Domains (gTLD) – of which there are current 22, including .com, .net and .org – from next year.

The move is a massive shake-up for the domain name system. Under the new system, it will be possible for domain names to end in almost any word in any language. It’s designed to appeal primarily to big business, which has both pockets deep enough and reasons good enough to apply for the creation of private gTLDs – .hsbc or .coke, perhaps?

It isn’t, though, going to be possible for everyone to reap the potential rewards of branding the internet in this way. Interested parties will need to complete an application process that will involve digesting a 360 page application guidebook and, crucially, stumping up at least $185,000 – possibly more if there are competing applications for the same TLD and an auction is required. So, while the global corporations are likely to be able to brand their own corner of the internet, small businesses will have to stick to good old .com and .co.uk.

The application process is expected to begin during January 2012.

If someone is buying a car, one of the first things they do after money has changed hands is to update the V5 document with the DVLA to make the change of ownership official. This is pretty common sense really – the seller does not want to find themselves being contacted about a car they no longer own and the buyer obviously wants to have total, official, ownership of the car for which they’ve paid.

This applies to many different purchases, from houses to ‘plane tickets.

Unfortunately, it seems that this logic sometimes goes straight out of the window when people purchase a domain name, even if the domain name is critical to them, for example if it goes to their company website or handles all their email.

Occasionally we get contacted by people who are not Daily customers, but have performed some checks on their domain name and see that it’s registered with us.

Most commonly, this is where the person contacting us has purchased a domain name from someone who was using Daily. This could be a sole web designer or a larger company, but for one reason or another the person contacting us no longer has any contact with them and the wants control of the domain name.

Generally speaking, the legal registrant of a domain name has control over it, no matter what Daily Control Panel it is sitting in. This is backed up by registry rulings to which hosting companies like Daily must adhere. In cases where the legal owner of the domain simply doesn’t have access to it, we need requests in writing along with proof of ownership (so a copy of some ID and/or company documents). We can then transfer the domain name in question over to the owner’s own control panel.

The problem is, we sometimes speak to people who find themselves in a situation where it turns our that their domain name is not, legally speaking, theirs at all, as they’ve let someone else register it using their own name and contact details. In these cases, there is really nothing that we can do – the only way the person who believes they should own the domain name can get the ownership changed is by starting the disputes policy with the top level registries, like Nominet for .uk domains, which sometimes can be time-consuming.

We strongly recommend that if you have let someone else register their domain name for them, you check who actually owns it on a WHOIS lookup like: http://internic.net/whois.html

If you or your company is not the owner of the domain then we strongly suggest you contact the current owner to get everything changed now rather than risking a protracted dispute later on.

While it may seem a bit doom and gloom to imagine personal disputes, bereavements or bankruptcies involving the person or company who owns your domain name, it is a sad reality that these situations do happen from time to time.

It all comes down to one question: are you willing to lose control of your domain name?
